Neal Smock, MBA
Accountant & Fractional CFO
After my upbringing in Danville, KY, I embarked on a six-year journey in the US Air Force, stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. It was during this time out west that I earned my MBA from Oklahoma Christian University. I honed my skills in developing financial and scientific applications while working at Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. Along the way, I ventured into entrepreneurship and opened Oklahoma’s first Floatation Therapy center. While running and managing my business, I serendipitously met my wonderful wife.
When the pandemic brought an unexpected opportunity for a fresh start, we seized it. We relocated to Lexington, where we've found happiness in abundance. As an avid supporter of the Kentucky Wildcats, I relish cheering them on, whether from the stands or the comfort of my home. Additionally, I enjoy family hikes that allow us to embrace the beauty of Kentucky!, I have a penchant for immersing myself in business books and podcasts.

Accountant & Small Business Bestie
Growing up, I wanted to be a scientist or journalist, but somehow I ended up in the Army before going to massage therapy school. It was all meant to be, because my entrepreneurial spirit came to life when I transformed a solo massage therapy practice into a thriving 5-star spa with a dedicated clientele numbering in the thousands. I also ventured into co-owning a floatation therapy center with Neal in Oklahoma. I donned many hats over 15+ years—therapist, educator, bookkeeper, manager, visionary, and sometimes even plumber and janitor. I've experienced the exhilarating highs and challenging lows of entrepreneurship, amassing a wealth of knowledge along the way.
In 2021, my family and I relocated from Oklahoma to the enchanting city of Lexington, KY, and it's captured our hearts. When I'm not recording episodes of Small Business Bestie Podcast, I’m probably cooking or trying to get out in nature.

Enrolled Agent Tax Preparer
Minnesota to SoCal to Louisville to Coronado to Lexington. The location changed, but my passion for business financials never ceased. I started out in bookkeeping at an automotive repair shop at 19. As a military spouse, I moved a lot. I worked as a bookkeeper in many industries. Eventually becoming an Income Tax Return Preparer through H&R Block allowed me the flexibility to manage our household and build my skillset. I earned my Enrolled Agent (EA) credential from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in 2019.
Most of my free time is spent with my husband and sons, enjoying soccer. British, German, Spanish, American, whatever we can find, we will watch. We attended almost every game of Lexington Sporting Club’s inaugural season (even went to some away games.) #LEXGO
I am also blessed with a cat who loves to remind me that she actually runs the household.
